KO Comedy Winner

Saturday, December 15th, 2007

I’d like to thank all of you for a great show on Saturday.  Literally all of you (except for a couple or comics who weren’t very experienced) had great sets.  This was honestly the hardest competition we had to judge.  We narrowed it down to Mike Dunphy, Eudi Paz, David Potashnik, and Jason Scarlatti.  But the 2 strongest performances were by David Potashnik and Mike Dunphy.  They both had great stage presence and joke delivery, but the comedian with the best over material, stage presence, and creativity was Mike Dunphy… who is the winner of our Rising Stars competition.  Congratulations Mike, and email us your availabilities so we can book you for your featured hosting spot. Again, we’re not just saying this.  This was a really hard contest to judge and you all did a great job.  You guys have good talent and potential, so keep it up.  If any of you want a detailed critique of your set, let us know.  Also, those of you who got tapes of your performance, email us your mailing address and we’ll mail them out to you ASAP.

“Humor For Humanity”

Comedy night to benefit relief efforts

Local comedian Mike Dunphy (MET’02) will host Humor for Humanity, a night of comedy, on Friday, October 19, at the Morse Auditorium at 620 Commonwealth Ave. at 7 p.m. to benefit the American Red Cross National Disaster Relief Fund and the American Red Cross Mass Bay Chapter.
Dunphy, with a cousin among the thousands missing after the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center on September 11, organized the night of comic relief. “I’m not saying laughter is always the best medicine,” says Dunphy, “but maybe it can help.” Humor for Humanity will feature Tony V in a special guest appearance and the New England Patriots cheerleaders as greeters.

More than 700 people are expected to attend, and seats are on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets are $20 at the door; $10 with student ID. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The event is sponsored in part by the BU Student Union.
